Leaving a legacy
When Norman Kolln was 17, he memorized several poems to impress his
English teacher and stay eligible for football. Seventy-two years
later, Norman still remembers those poems and recites them for high
school and college classes – demonstrating the power and importance
of memory.
Norman’s dramatic recitations of “The Cremation of
Sam McGee” by Robert Service and “The Last Leaf”
by Oliver Wendell Holmes never fail to delight audiences young and
old.
The Last Leaf
And if I should live to be
The last leaf upon the tree
In the spring,
Let them smile, as I do now,
At the old forsaken bough
Where I cling.
- Oliver Wendell Holmes
As an adult, Norman became a successful businessman and founded
Pietro’s Pizza. When he retired, he decided he wanted to give
back to the community by setting up an Annuity Trust through Lane.
Ultimately, the Trust will fund an endowment that will provide scholarships
for Lane students.
Through his generosity, Norman Kolln has left a legacy for future
generations that will last forever.
A planned gift today can benefit Lane tomorrow.
Please remember Lane in your will.
