Objective 3: Technology
1. Outcome: Outcome: Colleges will use information technology to improve and expand services to students in such areas as admissions, advising, financial aid, orientation, registration, assessment, placement, and progress monitoring.
Activities:
1a. Create a new information systems environment that makes information flows and administrative processes more efficient, more flexible, and more available for students and staff. Introduce learning college concepts into the process. Expand the learning college concepts to include all employees and activities affected by this project.
Timeline:
2000-01 Define project and opportunities to practice learning college concepts
2001-02 Selection, acquisition and project implementation planning
2002 July: Finance system goes live
2003 January: Human Resources system goes live
2003 March: Financial Aid system goes live
2003 May: Student system goes live
2003-04 Consolidation and evaluation phase

2. Outcome: Colleges will create and expand opportunities for asynchronous learning through information technology.
Activities:
2a. Create a strategic plan for instructional technology. The plan will include a definition of instructional technology, a report on the current state of instructional technology at Lane, a vision for instructional technology in the year 2007 and a broad set of goals that will move Lane in the direction of the vision.
Timeline:
2002 October: Charter a team to work on the plan
2002 December: First draft due to sponsors
2003 March: Final plan submitted to sponsors for adoption and approval
