Objective 2: Staff Recruitment & Development

1.  Outcome:  College will revise staff recruiting, selection, and evaluation procedures to reflect priorities on learning-centered education.

Activities
1a.  Job postings/announcements for classified and management positions will contain language indicating how the position contributes to creating a learning-centered environment.

1b.  Work with Personnel Services on their redesign of the Notice of Vacancy to ensure that it reflects the values of a learning-centered college.

1c.  Work with Personnel Services to redesign Application for Employment to ensure it reflects the values of a learning-centered college.

1d.  Hiring Processes training will incorporate information on how to infuse a learning-centered approach to the search process.

1e.  Develop an insert on the “Learning College” to be included in College’s recruitment materials.

1g.  Revise evaluation system for classified staff to reflect values of a learning-centered college.

2.  Outcome:  College will create staff development programs for staff and faculty to assist them in their roles as learning facilitators.

Activities:
2a.  Develop workshops for all staff and faculty on what it means to be a learning-centered college and how every staff member can be a more effective facilitator of learning.

2b.  Investigate ways to provide access to professional development funds for classified staff.

3.  Outcome:  College will create special staff development programs for all new staff and faculty to introduce them to key concepts associated with learning-centered education and to assist them in becoming more effective facilitators of learning.

3a.  Continue to refine Faculty Connections and new faculty mentoring program.
