Magellan sets theme for Winter Classical Cuisine Dinner
EUGENE - Culinary arts and hospitality management students at Lane Community College invite you to their winter classical cuisine dinner on Thursday, March 8, in the Center for Meeting and Learning, Building 19, main campus.
The theme is “The Journey of the Magellan” and features hors d'oeuvres from South America, appetizers from Spain, soup from the Caribbean, salad from Brazil, and dinner from Indonesia. The menu can be viewed at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/culinary/cuisine.htm.
A pre-event art show featuring the work of Satoko Motouji and a silent auction will be held at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Entertainment will include a performance by Lane drama students highlighting the life of explorer Ferdinand Magellan.
Second-year culinary arts student Ed Becker is the student executive chef for the dinner. "In 1519, Magellan sailed west from Spain to circumnavigate the globe in search of exotic spices and flavors,” he says. “Now you need only travel to Lane Community College the evening of March 8 to taste a variety of dishes Magellan would have loved to savor."
Prices for dinner are $25 per person or $175 for a table of eight if purchased by February 22. After February 22, prices increase to $35 per person or $245 to reserve a table of eight. Tickets can be ordered online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/culinary or by calling (541) 463-3503. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.
