EUGENE, OR - The Lane Community College Foundation Board of Directors and Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Program present the third annual Harvest Dinner on Friday, October 28, to benefit students and college programs. This taste-tempting event--which already has sold out--will feature the extraordinary talents of Lane's culinary arts and hospitality students and faculty under the direction of guest chef Stu Stein (view the menu).
Chef Stein is the executive chef of Rivers Restaurant at the Avalon Hotel and Resort in Portland. Stein and his wife Mary Hinds owned Peerless Restaurant in Ashland. An award-winning chef whose history includes work in France, Atlanta, Kansas City and Washington D.C., Stein has been a featured chef on the nationally syndicated cooking series "New American Cuisine." He is co-author of "The Sustainable Kitchen, Passionate Cooking Inspired by Farms, Forests and Oceans," and he contributed to the King Estate Winery Pinot Gris cookbook.
Dan and Chris Dunnington are the event chairs. Dan Dunnington has been a member of the Foundation Board for 25 years. Lane distinguished alumni will also be recognized for their unique, professional contributions to our community.
Sid and Hank Voorhees will serve as auctioneers. Auction items include rare and unique collectibles, numerous private dinner parties, and adventures including a tour of Tuscany complete with watercolor lessons from Lane art instructor Satako Motouji.
All proceeds will benefit Lane students through scholarships and college programs. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction, and hors d'oeuvres at the Center for Meeting and Learning, LCC main campus, Building 19. The dinner and live auction follow.
