What is Summit?
Summit is the online library catalog for the Orbis Cascade Alliance, a library consortium composed of more than 35 public and private colleges, community colleges, and universities in the Pacific Northwest. Through Summit you have access to over 28 million books, sound recordings, videos, and more.
Who Can Borrow
Summit Borrowing is available to Lane's currently enrolled credit students and current or retired faculty and staff members. Although Summit borrowing is not available to non-credit students, community borrowers or town patrons, our interlibrary loan service is available to these library users.
Regular items must be picked up within 7 calendar days after they are available at the Circulation Desk. Special items that only circulate for 6 days must be picked up within 3 days. Contact the Circulation Desk with any questions at 463-5273.
Fines
All Summit Borrowers (students, staff, and faculty) are subject to fines.
Visiting Another Member Library
Students, faculty, and staff who are currently enrolled or employed at Alliance institutions may have borrowing privileges when they visit other Alliance libraries. This "Visiting Patron" service includes borrowing materials from generally circulating collections and making Summit requests.Read more about the Visiting Patron service..

Feel free to contact the Circulation Desk at 463-5273 with any questions.
Interlibrary loan enables Lane students (credit and non-credit), faculty, and staff to obtain materials that are not available in the Lane Library. The lending library determines whether a particular item can be provided, what the cost will be, the length of time it is on loan, and the time it takes to process the request. Regional agreements regulating interlibrary loan and federal copyright law also place limitations on the types of materials that may be borrowed, as well as the number of articles that can be requested from a particular journal. Current books, materials in high demand, audiovisual materials, or rare books may be difficult or impossible to obtain. Materials usually arrive within seven to ten days, but they may take as long as four weeks to arrive.
Note: Interlibrary loan requests will be filled through Summit for eligible borrowers. Summit borrowing is available to credit students, staff and faculty. If the borrower is not eligible for Summit privileges, or if the item is not available from Summit, the request will be filled through the interlibrary loan process. Please check the Lane catalog and the Summit catalog prior to making a request. If the material is checked out of Lane's Library, you may place a hold on the item by using Lane's "Hold This Item" button. Please feel free to call the circulation desk with any questions at (541) 463-5273.
