Interlibrary loan enables Lane students, faculty, and staff to obtain materials that are not available in the Lane Library. The lending library determines whether a particular item can be provided, what the cost will be, the length of time it is on loan, and the time it takes to process the request. Regional agreements regulating interlibrary loan and federal copyright law also place limitations on the types of materials that may be borrowed, as well as the number of articles that can be requested from a particular journal. Current books, materials in high demand, audiovisual materials, or rare books may be difficult or impossible to obtain. Materials usually arrive within seven to ten days, but they may take as long as four weeks to arrive.
Note: Interlibrary loan requests will be filled through Summit for eligible borrowers. Summit borrowing is available to credit students, staff and faculty - read more about Summit borrowing. If the borrower is not eligible for Summit privileges, or if the item is not available from Summit, the request will be filled through the interlibrary loan process. Please check the Lane catalog and the Summit catalog prior to making a request. If the material is checked out of Lane's Library, you may place a hold on the item by using Lane's "Hold This Item" button. Please feel free to call the circulation desk with any questions at (541) 463-5273.
