Fall Term Advising and Career Workshops
for Nursing Students--Weekly Schedule for Sept. 26th through December 9, 2011
Please review the following information and choose the workshop that best fits your needs. Advance Registration Advising for continuing/returning students will be available at all workshop options. Please review the Advance Registration web site for information about important dates. To be eligible for Advance Registration you need to be considered a current or returning credit student. We look forward to seeing you soon. This schedule is subject to change. Prior to attending a workshop we request that you review program and advising information at the Nursing Academic Advising Resources site. You will be provided the opportunity to enroll once the term has started. This is a "virtual course" and is free. You will be enrolled for six months and if dropped can re-enroll at any point in time. A handout for more detailed instructions can be emailed to you. Please use the email listed below to request a copy. New students to Lane are encouraged to attend a SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising & Registration) session. Please go to Lane's home page, lanecc.edu and choose the link "Steps to Enroll in Credit Classes." Thank you, Workshop Descriptions: 1. New Nursing Student workshops: This workshop is for students who are currently attending Lane. It helps students to learn about the prerequisites required to apply to the nursing program. Advisors will assist with term-by-term planning and Advance Registration advising. Students who are still taking courses required to take their first Anatomy and Physiology course BI 231 should attend this workshop. Students who have completed college courses at other institutions should attend an Ongoing/Transfer Workshop. Please see below. 2. Ongoing/Transfer Student Workshops: This workshop provides ongoing advising services for students who have started to complete their Anatomy and Physiology sequence BI 231, BI 232, BI 233 or for students who have completed courses from other institutions. Students will receive an overview of program information and requirements, term-by-term planning, Advance Registration clearance and assistance with determining how credits transfer to Lane from other institutions. Please bring unofficial transcripts if you have them. Lane has a Course Equivalency tool for you to review how courses from other institutions have previously been accepted at Lane. 3. In-Program Workshops: These are reserved for students who have been accepted into the Nursing program. These will be provided periodically. If you do not see a workshop time that fits your schedule please email: NursingProgram@lanecc.edu to set up a time to be seen. You have three options to sign-up for a workshop:
