Preparing for Classes

College instructors expect that you will schedule your own study time and do what is necessary to succeed. As a full-time student (12 credits or more), you should plan for a total academic time of 40 hours a week. You could expect to be in class about 12 hours a week.

Remember this does not include independent or group study time.  You will have to schedule that yourself. Students who achieve B’s or better in their courses tend to study about 28 hours a week. That translates to 2 hours out of class for every 1-hour in class.  Of course this will vary for each individual student.
