Transitioning to Credit Classes/Scholarships

In addition to our college preparation classes, ABSE has several resources available to help you transition to college classes once you’re academically ready.

6-credit Tuition Waiver: Graduates of our GED preparation classes are eligible to apply for a 6-credit tuition waiver. To receive the waiver students must:

  • Attend Lane’s GED Preparation program at least 40 hours over the course of a 10-week period and complete pre- and post-testing
  • Complete the GED in English or Spanish
  • Participate in the annual LCC Graduation Ceremony (optional) See attached Application for GED Graduation for more details and important deadlines.
  • Complete a college preparation class at Lane Community College
  • Score at least 68 on Lane's reading college placement test
  • Meet with an Academic Advisor to complete an Academic Plan
  • Complete the GED Tuition Waiver Application 2010-11 *(.pdf) and submit it for consideration within 3 terms of completing the GED

ABSE Scholarships: The William & Betty Forest Scholarships, ABSE Shining Star Scholarship, and Register Guard Scholarship are available to outstanding GED preparation and Core College Connection students. Scholarship eligibility requirements and information are available through the LCC Foundation office, with an online application process, with the exception of the Register-Guard Scholarship. Click on this link (RG Scholarship) to see how to apply for the Register-Guard Scholarship.
