Fall Kick-Off
Lane Community College hosted “Fall Kick-Off”, designed to equip all students and their families with information and resources essential to life at Lane. The following is a summary of Fall Kick-Off activities Student Skits - Lane's own student improv group performed a series of student interactive skits based on "lifestyle of being a student". Although these skits were both humorous and entertaining, they also provided important educational and life skills survival tips. Parent/Family/Students Support Team Workshop - It's been said, "It takes a village". No more true than to the success of a college student. Vital student support resources available at Lane were identified. Additionally, strategies to support your college student were examined and encouraged. Lunch with Faculty and Staff - All Fall Kick-Off participants were invited for a bar-b-que lunch in Bristow Square.
College Fair - A street fair held in Bristow Square introduces services, programs and clubs to the students. Workshops - Several 30-minute workshops were provided. Visitors were encouraged to select their own topics of interest.
Campus Tours - Student led tours of the campus highlighted the main buildings and departments and resources and assisted students in finding their fall classes. Scavenger Hunt - A self-guided/self-paced scavenger hunt encouraging visits to various locations on campus. Over 30 departments on campus participated.
