You are invited to engage in an interactive Educational Forum which will explore the central themes of each of the Reading Together books, including the various ways that the books speak to each other.  People should find this discussion interesting, whether they have read both, one, or none of the Reading Together books.  We'll be handing out summaries, giving adequate context, and introducing subjects and ideas that have relevance far beyond the world of the books.  You should expect lively discussions among all who attend.

The theme of this year's Reading Together, Navigating the Changing Terrain, will help to shape this discussion.

Since each individual experience of change constitutes a narrative, we will examine the way the books explore and develop the following concerns about “story”: What do we do when, for any variety of reasons, our (individuals, culture, society, etc) story doesn’t work anymore?  How do we change our story?  How do we conceive a new vision?  How do we implement it?  How do we determine if it is sustainable? workable?  When employing this lens, both of the Reading Together books can be viewed as a rubric for undergoing the process of change.
