Renowned author Barry Lopez to give reading at LCC Oct. 6
EUGENE, OR - Renowned author Barry Lopez will give a reading at Lane Community College on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Meeting and Learning. The event is free and open to the public. Lopez also will speak with students on Friday.
Lopez is an internationally known essayist, short story author and winner of the National Book Award.
He is visiting the Lane campus as a guest of the college’s Reading Together program which brings a well-known author to campus so students have the opportunity to meet him or her. Over the course of the academic year, Reading Together events and activities support the campus-wide effort to read texts by the featured author in classes across several disciplines. This year, students are reading from two recommended anthologies, "Vintage Lopez" (2004) and "Crossing Open Ground" (1989). Also in spring term, students will showcase their work produced over the course of the year in response to Lopez's writing in a special exhibit at the college.
