David Joyce Gallery shows "Yellow, Yellow the Color of Bright" Sept. 6-Dec. 28
EUGENE, OR - The David Joyce Gallery located in the Center for Meeting and Learning at Lane Community College has opened its fall 2011 exhibit titled, "Fall: Yellow, Yellow the Color of Bright." Featuring five Oregon photographers and their stunning imagery of foods, the land, and welcoming environments, the exhibit is a study in color theory. Yellow was chosen to inspire the artist to look beyond the obvious and share their colorful illuminations representing the fall season.
The gallery also is featuring life-sized photographic cutout works of artist David Joyce for whom the gallery is named. He was an art instructor at Lane for 25 years and is best known in the community for his flying people mural at the Eugene Airport, which currently is being re-touched. A variety of his art will be shown with each gallery exhibit this year.
"Yellow, Yellow the Color of Bright" runs from Tuesday, September 6 through Wednesday, December 28, Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. All art is for sale with 25% of the proceeds supporting the David Joyce Gallery.
An artists' reception will be held Thursday, October 13 from 5-6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments prepared and served by students in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program.
