A parade, a race and an open house will engage LCC with the public at the Eugene Celebration

EUGENE, OR - A grand marshal parade entry, a determined bed-race team, and an open house will help Lane Community College engage the community at the Eugene Celebration on Saturday, August 27.

The college will have a grand marshal entry in the parade that begins at 9 a.m. at South Eugene High and circles downtown and back under theme of "Raising the Roof Downtown – Beam, Bennett, Lane."

A team of intrepid college staff and students will compete in the bed race that begins at noon at the corner of 8th and Olive.

Finally, the college will hold an open house at its current downtown center at 11th and Willamette, from 12-5 p.m. Visitors will learn about current college offerings and services downtown, and what's ahead for Lane's new campus under construction at 10th and Charnelton. Massage therapy students will give chair massages and fashion design students will conduct demonstrations, and visitors can enter to win a $50 gift certificate for a community education class at Lane.
