For kids and superheroes: Lane Family Day, May 21
EUGENE, OR - To infinity and beyond! Lane Community College is hosting a new event to reach out to local families and raise scholarship funds for students with children. Lane Family Day will be Saturday, May 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Center Building cafeteria on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene.
The event will feature the real life superheroes at Lane from chefs and pilots to nurses and EMTs. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite superhero. All ages are welcome.
"This will be an annual event that showcases the many wonderful programs Lane has to offer for the next generation of students. We want the children of our community to understand how Lane can help them achieve their superhero dreams," says organizer Michael O'Neal.
Events begin with a pancake breakfast from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by activities from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. including: Zany Zoo petting zoo; flight simulator from Lane's aviation program; Learning Garden activity; arts and craft table; science table; nurse's station; face painting; culinary table; international table; tooth fairy; dance workshops; obstacle course/play area; nutrition department.
There is no charge; donations will be accepted. Proceeds will fund a scholarship for students with children.
Event sponsors are McDonald’s Wholesale, Zany Zoo pets, Associated Students of Lane Community College, The LCC Foundation and LCC Printing and Graphics.
