PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region named Co-op Employer of the Year
EUGENE, OR–Each year the Cooperative Education department at Lane Community College chooses a business or organization that has been exceptional in providing cooperative education internship opportunities for Lane students. PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region (formerly known as Peace Harbor Hospital) has been selected as Co-op Employer of the Year 2011 from among 800 organizations who provide co-op experiences for Lane students.
Since 2000, more than 85 students have completed one or more co-op learning experiences within the PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region system. Nearly 26 percent of those students since 2006 have been hired as regular employees, a good example of how an organization invests in internships and shows the benefit for both the organization and the students, says co-op coordinator for Lane’s Florence campus, Marv Clemons. "It’s a perfect example of ‘growing your own'."
PeaceHealth Siuslaw Region will be honored at a dinner event on Tuesday, April 26.
