Spilde named to State Education Investment Team

EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College President Mary Spilde has been named to Gov. John Kitzhaber's State Education Investment Team.
The team is charged with developing strategies to create a seamless zero-to-20 education system. The team will propose policy and system changes and integrate recommendations from transition teams on early childhood, K-12 and post-secondary education. The team meets for the first time March 28 and will proposed a budget and policy framework by May 31.
Chaired by Kitzhaber, the team includes:
- Ann Burgess, Prairie Mountain School teacher, Eugene
- Tom Cole, Kids Unlimited founding director
- Pam Curtis, Center for Evidence-Based Policy at OHSU deputy director
- Matt Donegan, Forest Capital Partners co-founder and co-president
- Michael Geisen, Crook County Middle School teacher, Prineville
- Dr. Sandy Husk, Salem-Keizer School District superintendent
- Nori Juba, Bend Capital Partners managing partner
- Sue Levin, Stand for Children executive director
- Richard Sanders, Oregon Education Association executive director
- Ron Saxton, Jeld-Wen executive vice president
- Mary Spilde, Lane Community College president
- Dr. Orcilia Zuniga Forbes, former VP of advancement at OSU
