LCC dean wins national cooperative education award

EUGENE, OR - Andrea Newton, executive dean of academic affairs for career and technical education at Lane Community College, will receive the 2010-11 Dean Herman Schneider Award from the Cooperative Education and Internship Association. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the association. Newton was selected for her significant and comprehensive record of contributions to cooperative education and internships over a sustained period of time. She will be honored at the CEIA spring conference in April in San Antonio.
Newton has worked at Lane for 13 years including 10 years as division chair of cooperative education and the past three years as executive dean of academic affairs. Previously she was a leader in work experience internships in the K-12 system for more than 20 years.
Lane's co-op program is in the top five in the nation and is the largest among two-year colleges west of the Mississippi. The program serves more than 2,000 students and 800 employers a year.
