EUGENE, OR - The Lane Community College Dance Program presents "Collaborations Dance 2011" February 24-26 in the Performance Hall, Building 6 on the main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene. All three performances begin at 7:30 p. m. The concert includes choreography by members of the dance faculty and danced by Lane Dancers and members of the community.

Tickets for the performances are $10 general admission, $8 for students, Lane Community College staff and seniors (55+). Advance tickets are available online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/tickets, or at the door the nights of the performances.

The work of six choreographers will be featured.

Bonnie Simoa will present two pieces. The first, "Concatenation", unfolds meaning through dimensional designs in space, textural relationships, and full-bodied gestural phrases. Accompanied by the gorgeous cello music by David Lang's World to Come, eight dancers from the Lane Dance company, dressed in blood red silk from shoulder to heels, weave stories and tales through the fabric of space with dancing ranging from delicate to ravenous.

Simoa's second piece is the premier of "Tracing Vestiges" with the Lane Dance Company. Hauntingly beautiful, this dance explores the power of pivotal moments from our past that remain in our consciousness and shape and define who we are. The work is accompanied by the stirring dreamlike music from "Riceboy Sleep" by Jonsi and Alex.

Jean Nelson presents "Bop Bop", a swinging, zesty, spirited piece set to Frank Sinatra's "Bop! Goes My Heart."

Alseny and Andrea Yansane present "Bagatae", a medley of music and dance pieces form the Baga people, an ethnic group found on the coast of Guinea, West Africa.

Sarah Nemecek offers "Shadows of Clouds Rolling Across Mountains". This original work set on dancers of the Lane Dance Company was provoked by an exploration into time, and how the external perception of time is dependent upon internal climate. Dancers investigate how working independently, in duet, in trio, in group unison impacts their experience of time, and how the progression of time impacts the choices they make within the limited framework of the choreography.

Anita Sanford presents "Grief" and "Usher Medley". "Grief" takes the viewer on a journey through life’s twists and turns with a potpourri of dance styles. "Usher Medley", a fun dance tribute to music artist Usher set to his music.

Laura Hiszczynskyj premiers "Games We Play", a dance that developed form the playful, energetic and creative qualities of the dancers. In the spirit of true collaboration, the dance was created by the dancers through playing various "games".

Lane Community College is an equal opportunity, affirmative action institution.
