JULIE PERINI "THEY HAVE NAMES FOR GIRLS LIKE ME" OPENS JAN. 3I, 2011
EUGENE, OR – The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present the exhibition, They Have Names For Girls Like Me, by Portland artist Julie Perini. The exhibition is comprised of experimental video and film stills.
The show runs from January 31 to February 17th. A lecture will be held on Thursday, February 3rd at 3:00 pm with a reception immediately following from 4:00 – 5:00 pm. The lecture and reception are free and open to the public. The gallery is located in building 11 on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 463-5409.
When asked to describe her work, Perini stated: The video explores ideas about cinematic identification, the history of representation of women in cinema, and notions of gender as performance. This piece constantly grows longer and is a different edit each time the work screens.
