How to pay for college...in one day!
Annual financial aid and scholarship event is January 22 at LCC
EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College will hold its 12th Annual Scholarship Workshops in conjunction with the state's fifth Annual College Goal Oregon so that students and parents can, in one day and in one location, complete the federal financial aid application process and access college scholarship resources. For the past five years at Lane, this free event has enrolled more than 400 parents, high school students, college students, and community members each year.
"How to Pay for College…In One Day!" will be held Saturday, January 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the Center for Meeting and Learning, building 19 lobby, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue.
Last year, Lane provided more than $90 million in financial aid and scholarships to eligible students.
Participants will learn how to find and compete for scholarships and how to write effective applications and essays. Specific information about Oregon Student Assistance Commission, The Ford Family Foundation, and Lane Foundation scholarships will be provided. Financial aid professionals will help participants complete FAFSA worksheets and online applications, so participants should bring their 2010 tax and financial records.
A scholarship/college funding workshop will be held in Spanish from 10:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Lane students may pre-register online with CRN 32713. Community members may pre-register by calling Continuing Education at (541) 463-5252.

- 8:30-9 a.m. - Registration, Welcome, Overview
- 9 a.m.-3 p.m. - College Goal Oregon: Meet with financial aid professionals to complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA application. Bring 2010 tax and financial records.
- 9-10:30 a.m. - Scholarship Workshop I: Be a competitive applicant! Learn resources and strategies for finding scholarships plus how to write quality essays and applications.
- 10:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m. - Scholarship Workshop II: Learn how to apply for the Oregon Student Assistance Commission scholarships and The Ford Family Foundation scholarships.
- 10:40 a.m.-12:10 p.m. – Sesión Informativa acerca de becas y ayuda financiera.
- 12:20-1:50 p.m. - Scholarship Workshop I (repeat)
- 2-3:30 p.m. - Scholarship Workshop II (repeat)
