EUGENE, OR – English as a Second Language classes begin Sept. 27 at Lane Community College. Students should register now to ensure a seat.

Eric Razo, a 36-year-old native of Mexico, began taking ESL classes to advance in his work at Monaco Tools in Eugene. "I told him when I hired him, you have to learn English if you want to work here," said Joe Monaco. "Eric's very intelligent, and he can advance with better language skills." Razo takes ESL classes after work and Monaco provides scheduling flexibility to help him.

The cost is $47 for an 11-week class. Students are eligible for a free LCC Bus Pass. Some classes require purchase of a textbook. Additional fees may apply to students with certain types of non-immigrant visas.

The program enrolls about 500 students per term.
