LCC graduation is June 12
EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College graduation is Saturday, June 12, at the Lane County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. The ceremony begins at 4:00 p.m. Graduates meet at 3:00 p.m. in the Performance Hall to line up. Doors to the Exhibit Hall open to guests and the public at 3:30 p.m.
Speakers include President Mary Spilde, Board of Education Chair Pat Albright, Associated Students of Lane Community College President James Manning, and Instructor Cara DiMarco.
Trish Butcher will give the student keynote address. She is graduating with an associate of science degree in energy management. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, she traveled the world as a small child with her parents and lived briefly in France, North Africa, Portugal, Spain, and Greenland. She is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served as a member of the First Marine Division Band where she played clarinet and appeared in the movie "Stripes." After the service, she founded the women's chorus, Another Octave, in New Haven, Connecticut. She completed a bachelor's degree in music therapy and psychology at Nazareth College of Rochester, New York. After that she launched a successful career in information technology consulting in California and performed as principal clarinetist with the San Francisco Women's Orchestra. Today she is vice chair of the board of the Center for Spiritual Living in Eugene. After graduation, she plans to start her own business in energy and resource management consulting.
