Distinguished Alumni honored by LCC

EUGENE, OR - The Lane Community College Foundation has presented the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards to Rosaria Haugland, Nancy Kinnard, Paul Machu, and Nancy Radcliffe, all of Eugene.

Rosaria Haugland

Rosaria Haugland is president of the Rosaria P. Haugland Foundation. She was the first in her family to graduate from college and earned doctoral degrees in biology and biochemistry. In 1975, she and her husband started the company Molecular Probes and enrolled in Lane's small business management program to learn how to run a business. The company grew into a multimillion-dollar business and was sold to Invitrogen in 2003. Haugland currently serves on the Lane Community College Foundation Board of Trustees.

Nancy Kinnard

Nancy Kinnard is vice president for business relationships at Summit Bank. She earned an associate degree from Lane in 1972 and went on for a bachelor's and certificate of management at the University of Oregon. She was hired by Oregon Mutual Savings in 1976 and within five years became one of its first women managers. Over the course of her banking career she continued to take skill-building classes at Lane. She has served on many local boards including current memberships on Volunteers in Medicine, the Eugene Symphony, and the Delta Rotary Club.

Paul Machu

Paul Machu is a producer and director at Chambers Productions and mentors student interns at the company. He studied film and media at Lane in 1979 and has served on the college advisory committee for media arts. He is an adjunct instructor in journalism and communication at the University of Oregon. Machu has won numerous film and video awards including the Telly, Woody and Best Local Commercial from the National Association of Broadcasters. He is a current board member of Willamette Resources Educational Network.

Nancy Radcliffe

Nancy Radcliffe earned an associate degree from Lane in 1971 and went on to earn a bachelor's and master's in business administration from the University of Oregon. She was hired by Standard Oil of California and became the first woman hired for its management training program, the first woman selected for its audit staff, and the first woman allowed on its off-shore rig. She later worked for Tektronix, the Hult Center, and the YMCA. She volunteers for the Credit Abuse Resistance Education financial literacy program, United Way, and Women in Philanthropy.

The Lane Community College Foundation coordinates the Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards honor alumni who completed 30 credit hours at Lane or earned an associate degree and who have demonstrated achievement in their chosen profession, service to the community, or outstanding contribution to the college.
