Romeo and Juliet, April 8-24.
A newly conceived production of Romeo and Juliet which asks the question, "Can their fate be changed?" opens at Lane Community College on April 8, and continues each Thursday, Friday and Saturday through April 24, with a Sunday matinee on April 18th.
Director Patrick Torelle has set Shakespeare’s classic in an uncertain post-apocalyptic future wherein the gap between rich and poor has become a chasm, yet the lovers remain committed to changing their world.
Exotic weapons, wild fashions, and raucous music are featured throughout this highly theatrical production. Still, Shakespeare's language, poetry, and passion remain at the center of the familiar story of "star-crossed lovers." This is a fast paced and dynamic rendition that stays within the promise at the beginning of the play of "…two hours traffic on our stage."
The performance will be held in LCC's Blue Door Theater, Bld 6, main campus. Tickets are $8 for students, seniors and staff, $10 general admission. Performance starts at 8pm, doors open at 7:30. The doors open at 1:30 for the April 18 matinee, and the performance starts at 2:00pm
For advance tickets and credit card sales, go online to lanecc.edu/tickets. Only cash and checks are accepted at the door. Tickets may also be reserved by calling the Student Production Office at 541-463-5761. There is no reserved seating, only reserved tickets. People with reserved tickets get priority seating. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show starts, as late seating distracts the performers.
