The Term’s End Shakespeare Showcase, presented tri-annually at Lane Community College, offers up a cavalcade of scenes from the Bard’s plays. There will be two free performances on Saturday, March 13, at 2:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M., in the Blue Door Theater, Building 6, on the main campus.

Student and faculty actors will be joined by guest artists: Eugene actors Marcee Long and Nancy Hopps, and Joe Cronin (formerly of Oregon Shakespeare Company and Utah Shakespeare Company). Narration will be provided by Patrick Torelle, and live music by Linda Danielson.

The program is the final project for the students of the Acting Shakespeare class. Other actors join in because of their passion for Shakespeare’s writing. Director Judith “Sparky” Roberts says the program, which runs just under two hours, will appeal to “Shakespeare-lovers and those who just want to get their feet wet.”

The set for the monologues and scenes is L.C.C.’s specially-constructed replica of the London Globe Theatre stage. Selected pieces will be from Henry V, Henry VI, Taming of the Shrew, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Julius Caesar, Troilus and Cressida, Merchant of Venice, King Lear, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, As You Like It, Hamlet, The Tempest, Two Gentlemen of Verona, Twelfth Night, Measure for Measure, Titus Andronicus, and Richard III.

For more information, call the SPA office: 541-463-5761. Seating is open. Admission is free, and donations are welcome to support the continuing efforts of the Lane Theatre Program. Audience members must be over age 10 to be admitted.

The doors open for the performances at 1:30 (2pm show) and 6:30 (for the 7pm show). If you need disability accomodations to attend this event, please call Disability Resources 541-463-5150(voice) or 541-463-3079(TTY) at leat one week in advance.
