Concert to benefit women's program at LCC Feb. 7
EUGENE, OR – A benefit concert for the Women in Transitions program at Lane Community College will be held Sunday, February 7, at 3 p.m. in the Performance Hall, building 6, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene. Performances will be given by Soromundi: Lesbian Chorus of Eugene, and In Accord Community Choir.
Everyone's invited for an eclectic afternoon of choral music, featuring everything from old standards to contemporary arrangements.
Tickets are $10 general public and $8 seniors/students. Tickets may be purchased online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/tickets or at the door.
Women in Transitions is an entry program designed to help women navigate life transitions and explore new directions. Attention is given to life transitions, relationships, and personal growth. The program includes career and life planning components to help students plan their careers and their lives. Attention is given to self-awareness, career exploration, and decision-making. The program has helped thousands of women.
In Accord Community Choir is a secular group of amateur singers with a variety of backgrounds and musical experience. The group sings a variety of material while maintaining a focus on socially relevant, meaningful and inspiring songs.
Soromundi: Lesbian Chorus of Eugene was founded by Karm Hagedorn in 1989 with five members. Since then, the choir has flourished and now has about 80 members with a sometimes harrowing performance schedule in its mission to support and sustain a strong and visible gay and lesbian community in Oregon. Soromundi is dedicated to celebrating diversity. Song selections span generations, cultures, and different political and religious perspectives.
Soromundi is the name of a star and means "sisters of the world."
