EUGENE, OR -- The Lane Community College women’s basketball team won its 72nd consecutive home game on Wednesday, keeping alive their national hold on the longest active home game winning streak in college basketball.
In their first home game of the season, the Titans defeated the Lower Columbia Community College Red Devils from Longview, Wash., with a final score of 104-68.
The win puts the Titans 3-0 for the season, having already won two games on the road.
They have four road games before returning home. They play in the Pierce Tourney in Lakeview, WA, Dec. 11-13, followed by the Lower Columbia Cross Over in Longview, WA, Dec. 18-20, then the Chemeketa Community College Holiday Tourney in Salem Dec. 27-29, and finally a game at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany on Jan. 9. The Titan’s next home game is January 13, vs. Umpqua Community College of Roseburg.
Besides the home game streak, the Titans have won three Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges championships in the last four years. Coach Sheley, in his 11th year of coaching at Lane, has been named the association’s Coach of the Year three times.
