FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PLAYWRIGHT MICHAEL WELLER WILL MEET THE PUBLIC AT LANE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The Student Productions Association of L.C.C. will host New York playwright Michael Weller during the opening week of his comedy, Dwarfman, Master of a Million Shapes. Two public events are being offered during his visit.
After the performance on Friday, November 6, the audience is invited to stay for a question-and-answer session with Mr. Weller, and a refreshment gala.
The following day, Saturday, November 7, Mr. Weller will conduct a free playwriting workshop at 12:00 noon – expected to last two hours - at the Blue Door Theatre. He will provide a creative source to inspire participants and show how writers choose different moments to dramatize.
Mr. Weller started the Mentor Project in New York, and more recently the Final Draft Production Series - programs that foster the careers of budding playwrights. His many plays include Moonchildren and Loose Ends, and the screenplays for Ragtime and Hair. His latest musical, Dr. Zhivago, will open in Melbourne, Australia, in 2011.
Dwarfman runs three weekends, Thursdays through Saturdays, November 5 to November 21 (8:00 P.M.) at the Blue Door Theatre on the main campus, with one matinee on Sunday, November 15 (2:00 p.m.).
