Eugene, Ore. - The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Program at Lane Community College has received prestigious recognition from two national accrediting commissions, distinguishing Lane as the only joint-accredited culinary arts and hospitality management program in the Pacific Northwest.

The Hospitality Management Program was accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration for a full seven-year period. This will give students a Certified Hospitality Professional certification upon graduation.

The Culinary Arts Program was re-accredited for a full seven-year period, after receiving its initial five-year accreditation in 2004, by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation's Accrediting Commission. Culinary Arts also received Exemplary Status, meaning the commission found no areas of non-compliance. Lane is one of 29 schools in the nation to secure this honor. Students will continue receiving Certified Culinarian certification after graduation.

Two separate accreditation self-studies, each weighing about 9 to 10 pounds, were submitted to the accrediting commissions. Four evaluators from across the country conducted a site visit in May.

The programs are experiencing Lane’s enrollment surge. For instance, Culinary Arts admitted 72 first-year students this fall and has a waiting list for next fall.

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Program has a strong, active advisory committee including members in the local hotel/restaurant industry, an exceptional faculty, and supportive administrative staff.

Lane is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution.
