PARKING LOTS FILLING AT LCC; FOOD OUTLETS ADDED
Eugene, Ore. - Lane Community College needs about 100 more people to ride the bus or carpool.
At about 10 a.m. this morning, main campus lots filled. Yesterday, congestion subsided by about 2 p.m. Congestion has not affected late afternoon or evening classes, or classes at Lane's downtown campus or other facilities.
Congestion should subside next week after more students have their bus passes and textbooks and have figured out their schedules.
Meanwhile, students and commuters who are riding the bus and carpooling are helping. Others are encouraged to follow their lead.
Civic Stadium parking near the corner of East 19th and Amazon Parkway across from South Eugene High School is available as a park-and-ride site and has about 200 spaces for LCC bus riders--see route 82 timetable.
LTD's park-and-ride lot at Amazon Parkway and 29th has about 40 parking spots and is also served by route 82.
LTD's Springfield Station park-and-ride had spots available in the early morning and route 85 has capacity and offers a 10 minute ride to campus.
LTD's route 81 runs every 30 minutes and runs along Harris Street where some curbside parking is available.
Campus food services added four food outlets on main campus yesterday to ease long lines in the cafeteria. Food carts near building 7 on northeast campus and between buildings 4 and 5 on west campus offer hot foods and beverages. Concessions in the gym inside building 5 on west campus and on the second floor terrace of building 16 on south campus offer cold foods and cold and hot beverages. The outlets are cash only at this time.
Lane is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution.
