News from the Lane Community College Foundation

LCC NAMES 2009 DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI
Eugene, Ore. - The Lane Community College Foundation has named Greg Ausland, Fletcher Little, and Dr. Bill Moshofsky, all of Eugene, and Betty Doerr of Oakridge, as its Distinguished Alumni for 2009. This award goes to alumni who completed at least 30 credit hours or earned an associate’s degree at Lane, and have demonstrated achievement in their chosen profession, provided service to the community, and made an outstanding contribution to the college.

Greg Ausland |
Ausland started on his path to be a civil engineer at Lane in 1982. He went to work at OBEC Consulting Engineers of Eugene after obtaining his bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University. He now is a principal engineer at OBEC, a firm that has grown from 20 to 120 staff members. With a passion for designing bridges, Ausland has restored 26 of Oregon’s covered bridges. He and OBEC received many national awards for redesigning the Lowell covered bridge into a visitor interpretive center. He currently manages the team responsible for designing a cable-stay bridge crossing over Delta Highway, and the transformation of the Eugene Train Depot.

Betty Doerr |
Doerr is a leader in the Oakridge public school system where she works with special needs and at-risk students. She obtained an associate of science degree from Lane in 1991. Upon graduation she attended Western Oregon University where earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education with an emphasis in learning disabilities. She graduated summa cum laude and at the top of her class. After living in Florida for a few years, Doerr returned to Oregon in 1997 and began teaching in Oakridge. She is currently the resource room teacher and has a caseload of 45 students. Additionally, she teaches a life skills program that encourages independence skills like cooking and life management.

Fletcher Little |
Little obtained his associate’s degree in business management in1974 and began his career at The Register-Guard as an ad service proof advisor. He moved up the ranks after obtaining a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. In 1987 he was promoted to general manager, a position he held until 2005 when he became vice president of business development and internet publishing. After retirement he started his own consulting business, Fletcher Little Leadership Coaching and Consulting, which focuses on coaching and mentoring the leadership traits of successful executives. Fletcher is an active community member and serves on the boards for Guard Publishing Company and PacificSource.

Bill Moshovsky |
Dr. Moshofsky started his journey at Lane in 1972. He transferred to the University of Oregon and received a bachelor of science in 1976. He then went to the University of Oregon Health Science Center, now Oregon Health Science University, and received a doctorate in medicine in 1980. In 1985 he obtained his residency in family practice medicine from the UC Davis and began his health care career in Cottage Grove. Starting in 1991, he worked at urgent care for eight years before going back to a position as a family practice physician at the Eugene Clinic, now known as PeaceHealth Medical Group. In 2006, he began a six-year term as chief of staff for Sacred Heart Medical Center and played a key role in opening the new Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend.
