RAINWATER HARVESTING FAIR AND WORKSHOPS AT LCC

Eugene, Ore. - A Rainwater Harvesting Fair and professional accreditation workshops will be held at Lane Community College in May, sponsored by the American Rainwater Catchment Systems Association, and Lane students in the Water Conservation Tech degree program and Introduction to Sustainability class.

The fair will be held Friday, May 22, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Center Building first floor cafeteria, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene.

"It's a great opportunity to learn about rainwater harvesting systems currently on the market and how to use them for garden irrigation, water security enhancement, and reducing water bills," says Gabe Pemble, a student in Lane's Introduction to Sustainability class. The fair also offers people a chance to meet with rainwater harvesting systems vendors.

The workshops will be held Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23, and are for professionals or those interested in becoming a professional. ARCSA members who enroll both days will receive professional accreditation credits from ARCSA. The workshops will cover information about rainwater, watersheds and stormwater; business ethics, safety and planning; catchment systems and methods; and other topics. For more information about ARCSA or to register, go online at arcsa.org.

"There is increasing interest in rainwater catchment because of predicted worldwide water shortages in the near future," says Pemble. "This is being driven by concerns over population growth, terrorism and climate change."

Lane is an equal opportunity/affirmative action institution.
