Spring 2009 Schedule of Performing Arts Events

Lane Community College, Department of Music, Dance and Theatre Art is pleased to offer very affordable, accessible entertainment for the entire family this Spring Term. Please use this information for event calendars. Detailed press releases with photos will be sent prior to actual events.

Schedule of Performing Arts Events at Lane Community College
Spring Term 2009

Arcadia: Thursday through Saturday, April 2-18, 8:00pm; Sunday Matinée April 12 2:00pm. Tom Stoppard's complex , entertaining play about Love, Sex and Chaos Theory. In the Blue Door Theatre

343: Every Wednesday beginning April 15th @ 3:43 in Building 6, Room TBA. Listen to mini-performances by Lane and community musicians. You don’t have to be a music student to participate! Call to register to perform, or drop in and see the excitement!

National Dance Week: April 24-May 3. Free Master Classes in Hip-Hop, Salsa and Contact Improvisational. Dance Studio. Times TBA.

Down 4 It!: April 25, 8:00pm. A part of National Dance Week, Dance Northwest's Dance Concert features Hip-Hop and Jazz artists from the Pacific Northwest. In the Main Performance Hall.

Spring Inspirations: Thursday through Saturday, April 30 May 9. 8:00pm. Student written and directed one act plays. In the Blue Door Theatre.

Works Dance Concert: May 21,22,23; 8:00pm. Student Choreographers produce the best of their work on the Lane Performance Hall Main Stage.

Lane Jazz Ensemble: May 29. Time TBA. Little known jazz gems follow old favorites as the Lane Jazz Ensemble and special guests heat up the night. Directed by Ron Bertucci. In the Main Performance Hall.

Lane Chamber Orchestra: May 31. Time TBA. Hisao Watanabe directs an orchestra of students, faculty and special guests in Chamber Music Classics. In the Main Performance Hall.

Lane Choirs: June 2. Time TBA. An evening of entertaining and inspirational song from the Lane Concert Choir, the Lane Chamber Choir, and the Spectrum Vocal Jazz Ensemble. In the Main Performance Hall.

Lane Symphonic Band: June 3. Time TBA. Ron Bertucci returns to direct students and special guests in a sampler of American music. In the Main Performance Hall.

Lane Faculty Jazz Concert: June 4. Time TBA. Join Lane music faculty members at the foot of the performance hall main stage for an intimate evening of hot jazz with that Concert Hall sound! A very special treat for the music connoisseur. In the Main Performance Hall.

Lane Student Jazz Combos: June 5. Time TBA. Lane student jazz combos light up the Main Stage in the Performance Hall.

Shakespeare Showcase: June 6; two shows. Time TBA. Enjoy a free Shakespeare sampler as students and faculty are joined by professional actors performing a spectrum of scenes from Shakespeare’s plays. In the Blue Door Theatre,
