BRING Gallery Group show "New Leaves Art Experiment"
BRING Gallery is conducting an experiment in creative reuse January 3rd through January 31st. The "New Leaves" exhibition began as an empty gallery with bare walls and a few work tables. Through a series of workshops, demonstrations, and open studio times, we hope to fill the Gallery in a few weeks, and celebrate our hard work and creativity with an artist reception on Friday, January 23rd from 5:30 pm to 8 pm.
Gallery CoManagers Liz Lawrence, Nicole Smedegaard. and Alex D'Souza will be hosting free, open studio times from 2 pm - 4:30 pm on Fridays (January 16, and 23) and from 1 pm - 4 pm (January 18,25). Working with materials from BRING, found objects, and their own 'collections of stuff', the
comanagers will apply their varied arts and crafts expertise to reuse materials. Please come join in the fun.
"New Leaves" provides a great opportunity for creative people in the area to show off their reuse skills. The public is invited to bring in an example of reused or recycled work for exhibition during the month of January, and also to work in the Gallery during open studio. Our schedule of demos and workshops follows:
Jan 13: Collage Creations Workshop with Marilyn Kent, 2-4pm
Jan 15: Combines and Assemblage Workshop with Max Smoot, 12-2pm
Jan 16: Open Studio, 2-4pm, Fabric Flower Hairpins workshop with Heidi Fisch
Jan 18: Open Studio, 1-4pm
Jan 23: Open Studio 2-4:30, Artist Reception 5:30-8pm
Jan 24: Jewelry Baubles and Chunk with Sue Markley, 1-4pm
Jan 25: Open Studio, 1-4pm
Jan 30: Open Studio, 2-4:30pm, Last Day of New Leaves
