Eugene, Ore. - The Lane Community College Foundation hosts the sixth annual Harvest Dinner: Celebrating Oregon’s Cuisine, on Friday, October 24th.
“The event serves as a hands-on learning laboratory for 100 culinary arts and hospitality management program students,” says Kathy Thomas, Foundation director of annual giving. She says students will assist visiting Chef William King of McCormick and Schmick's prepare and serve a six-course gourmet meal accompanied by King Estate wine.
According to Thomas, the annual dinner is the college's signature fundraising event, bringing in nearly $200,000 to support student scholarships and college programs. Mike and Fran Curtis are 2008 volunteer chairs.
The evening begins with a cocktail reception which features passed hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Auctioneer Sid Voorhees will auction 24 packages during the dinner program to raise funds for student scholarships and college programs.
The complete menu and an auction preview is available online at: http://2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/foundation/harvestdinner.htm.
