SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT PROGRAM ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
EUGENE, OR - Applications are now being accepted for the Lane Community College Business Development Center's Small Business Management program (SBM), a comprehensive program that gives business owners the perspective they need to make sound business decisions and the tools they need to put those decisions into action-working on the business as well as in it. In the program sessions, the business is the textbook. The group setting builds cohesiveness and participants learn from each other.
A new group starts in the fall and spring for KEYS (SBM Year I). SBM Year II starts in the fall and runs for 11 months. Space is limited for each group so apply early. There is open enrollment throughout the year as space allows. To qualify, business owners must be for-profit, have started, or will start within months, active business operations, be actively involved in the business or enrolling the business's manager, and willing to commit time for monthly program meetings and on-site visits with the instructor. First-year is open enrollment with years 2 and 3 by acceptance of the instructor. Current cost is $599.
"The [LCC] Small Business Center has really opened our eyes to the need to step back and carefully analyze our small business, and has prompted us to put many new management systems in place for better operations. The experience has been motivating, educational inspiring and very revealing of our short comings as business owners," says Renee Phelps, Speed Quest, Inc.
The SBM program helps business owners bogged down with micromanagement and firefighting to clarify their goals, share experiences and knowledge, grow their businesses, and work smarter--not harder through. Monthly program sessions on key management topics with the instructor and guest expert speakers provide valuable information and networking opportunities. Monthly one-on-one advising sessions and ongoing business analysis helps participants develop a plan for growth.
