INSTRUCTOR HELPS SMALL BUSINESSES WORK ON THEIR BUSINESS

Gary E. Smith

EUGENE OR - Gary E. Smith, instructor, has been hired as contracted faculty for 2008-09 for the Business Development Center. Gary is a team member of the Lane Community College Business Development Center moving from temporary appointment to a full time non-credit contracted faculty position. He instructs and coaches small business owners in focusing on their businesses through the Small Business Management Program.

Smith teaches business owners from early stage to existing businesses and Recipe for a Successful Restaurant a workshop for improved leadership and highlighting processes that can reduce costs.

Gary brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the BDC that includes: business plan writing, financial projections (cash flow, profit & loss, balance sheet), financial analysis, early stage business development and planning, goal setting, personnel issues, and basic sales & marketing. He has an MBA in business management and a BA in organizational leadership from Franklin University, holds a Six Sigma Green Belt process engineer certification, and has an Elite Cruise Counselor Scholar designation from the Cruise Line Industry Association.
