LCC BOARD APPROVES APPROVES CLASSIFIED CONTRACT
Eugene, Ore. - The Lane Community College Board of Education unanimously approved a new, seven-year contract for classified employees at its June 11 meeting.
The agreement provides a 1 percent salary increase, a one-half step longevity increase, and 81 hours of extra leave time during 2008/2009, in lieu of normal cost of living adjustments. The college will increase contributions to health insurance premiums by 3 percent effective July 1, and classified employees will pay an additional 1.5 percent to the out-of-paycheck contributions for health insurance premiums.
"This was the most collaborative and expedited bargaining process in years," said Dennis Carr, Executive Director for Human Resources. He said the contract "aligns bargaining with legislative budget cycles and supports Lane's goal of fiscal stability."
Bob Baldwin, president of the classified union, said 96 percent of union members employees supported the agreement in a ratification vote earlier that week.
Lane employs about 400 classified staff. They support instruction and operations in a variety of technical, maintenance, clerical and service roles ranging from computer technology to financial aid advising.
The new contract takes effect July 1 and continues through June 30, 2015. Three economic re-openers are scheduled for March of 2009, 2011 and 2013.
