DAVID BARSAMIAN TO SPEAK AT LCC MAY 19
Eugene, Ore. - The Lane Peace Center and Eugene Media Action, a committee of Eugene PeaceWorks, are proud to co-sponsor nationally renowned radio host and author David Barsamian, speaking on "The Rise and Fall of Public Broadcasting: What Can Be Done About It." Barsamian will speak at the Lane Community College main campus on Monday, May 19, from 2-3:30 p.m. in building 17, room 309. The event is free to the public.
Barsamian is founder and director of Alternative Radio, the independent award-winning weekly series based in Boulder, Colorado. He is a radio producer, journalist, author, and lecturer. He is the author of several books, including “Propaganda and the Public Mind,” “Confronting Empire,” “The Decline and Fall of Public Broadcasting,” “The Checkbook and the Cruise Missile,” and “Targeting Iran.”
The Institute for Alternative Journalism named him one of its "top 10 media heroes." Barsamian lectures on U.S. foreign policy, the media, propaganda, and corporate power in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, India and Europe. He is the winner of the ACLU's 2003 Upton Sinclair Award for independent journalism.
