EUGENE, OR - Lane Community College's president, vice president, and honor students flew home from with numerous awards from the Phi Theta Kappa annual conference held April 3-5 in Philadelphia. PTK is the international honor society for two-year colleges.
President Mary Spilde was awarded a Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction and Vice President for Instruction and Student Services Sonya Christian was awarded a Distinguished Administrator Award. Chapter Advisor Velda Arnaud was awarded the Paragon Award for New Advisors for the third year in a row.
Arnaud says Lane's Sigma Zeta chapter did exceptionally well. "Our chapter received the Scholarship Hallmark Award, and we were listed for the second year in a row as one of the top 100 chapters. Even better, we were listed as a Distinguished Chapter. The Distinguished Chapters are the top 25, so we are very proud of that accomplishment."
