BETH LO CERAMICS EXHIBIT OPENS FEBRUARY 25 AT LCC
EUGENE, OR - The Lane Community College Art Gallery is proud to present the works of ceramic artist Beth Lo. The exhibit, titled Good Children, is a unique collection of work featuring the illustrations for the book "Mahjong All Day Long" by Ginnie Lo in collaboration with Kiahsuang Shen Lo.
"Since the birth of my son in 1987, I have been drawing inspiration from major events in my family's history, the day-to-day challenges of parenting, and my own childhood memories of being raised in a minority culture in the United States," Beth Lo writes. "I also enjoy investigating, celebrating and sometimes satirizing traditional Asian aesthetics, including calligraphy, origami, scrolls, Socialist Realist artwork, Chinese souvenirs and toys, the game of mahjong, as well as Ming and Tang dynasty ceramics."
The show runs from February 25 through March 13. A lecture, book signing and reception will be held on Thursday, February 28 at 6 pm. The lecture begins at 6 p.m. with the reception immediately following until 8 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public. The gallery is located in building 11 on main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. There is no charge for admission. The Art and Applied Design Department phone number is 463-5409.
