LCC Board to review survey results
The board also may approve a tuition waiver for GED completers

EUGENE - The Lane Community College Board of Education meets Wednesday, December 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom, building 3, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene. The agenda is online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/presoffc/board/agenda.htm

Agenda highlights:

• Community perception survey results will be reviewed. The survey reveals that people believe it is important for the college to provide an affordable, accessible education, especially to those striving to improve their lives. Most valued are Lane’s career training programs, transfer classes, and GED instruction. Six-hundred telephone interviews were conducted by a research firm from November 10-13.

• Students who complete a GED may get a six-credit tuition waiver under a proposal before the board. The waiver is intended to help GED students continue their education and get a degree or train for a career. This could lead to future tuition revenue for the college. Basic education enrollment increased 14.9 percent from 2005/06 to 2006/07.
