Challenge grant issued for LCC longhouse

EUGENE - The Spirit Mountain Community Fund of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde has issued a $50,000 challenge grant for the Lane Community College Native American Longhouse Fund. Donations of cash or in-kind materials totaling $50,000 must be raised by January 25, 2008, in order to successfully meet the challenge. As of early December, $18,000 has been raised.

Gifts may be made online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/foundation. Select Give Now and add a comment that you are supporting the longhouse. In addition, checks can be mailed to the Lane Community College Foundation, 4000 E. 30th Ave., Eugene, OR 97405; write longhouse in the memo.

Lane broke ground for a longhouse in summer 2006 after years of visioning by Native American students, the community, the college, and others. The longhouse will serve as an educational facility and meeting place for all students and the community to share knowledge, culture, values, and activities. The longhouse will be the first in the nation on a nontribal community college campus. For more information go online to 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/nasa/longhouse.

The Lane Community College Foundation is a non-profit organization and donations made to the Foundation qualify as tax-deductible as defined by law. Consult your tax advisor for details. For information, call the Foundation at (541) 463-5226.
