LCC board will be asked to approve two new degree programs at Nov. 6 meeting
EUGENE - The Lane Community College Board of Education meets Tuesday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the boardroom, building 3, main campus in Eugene, 4000 E. 30th Avenue. The agenda will be online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/presoffc/board/agenda.htm
Agenda highlights:
- The board will be asked to approve curriculum for a new Water Conservation Technician associate of applied science degree. The program will train students to design, implement and evaluate water conservation programs. Businesses and agencies have relied on on-the-job training in the past, but the need for trained job candidates is expected to increase with climate change, increasing population demands on natural resources, and other factors.
- The board will be asked to approve curriculum for a new Retail Management associate of applied science degree. The program will prepare students for careers in retail store supervision and management. The Oregon Labor Market Information Service predicts 561 annual employment openings statewide, with 44 openings in Lane County.
