Sustainable Business Management Program Helps Business Owners See Sustainability Solution
EUGENE, OR - Applications are now being accepted for the Lane Community College Business Development Center’s Sustainable Business Management program (Greening of Business Practices), a comprehensive program that gives business owners the perspective they need to make sound business decisions and to implement the tools they need to put those decisions into action to save money and conserve resources.
The Sustainability program helps business owners review their business practices to clarify their goals, share experiences and knowledge, to find less expensive and more efficient alternatives to current practices, and work smarter--not harder. Program consists of:
Monthly classroom sessions with the instructor and guest expert speakers provide valuable information and networking opportunities.
Monthly one-on-one advising sessions to go over your ‘green’ audit
Ongoing business analysis helps participants develop a plan for sustainability and improvement.
Guest speakers such as Bill Kasper, Purchasing Manager, University of Oregon will present on the ‘Greening Process,’ and a site visit with Alan Twigg, Station Manager, Sequential Biofuels. Guest Speakers and class session content covers key sustainability and greening practices in an informal, flexible setting that changes according to the participants’ needs.
William H. Klausmeier, Ph.D., has been selected as the instructor for the Sustainable Business Management Program. Dr. Klausmeier has devoted much of his career to the advancement of new, waste-free technology for fuels and chemicals manufacture from renewable raw materials. He has managed renewable projects for the World Bank, U.S. Aid, and the Rockefeller Brother Fund.
“Dr. Klausmeier and I have had the opportunity to work together. His insight and energy for this topic are well worth your time,’ Peter Sorenson, Lane County Commission.
A new group starts in October and space is limited. Current cost for the program is $549. A Curriculum Completion Award is given participants after graduation.
Participants are encouraged to apply now. To qualify, business owners must have management responsibilities in an established small business, value education and the principles of Sustainability, and willing to commit time for monthly class meetings and on-site visits with the instructor.
