Fall parking tips from LCC
EUGENE, OR - Every year, up to 5,000 vehicles vie for 3,500 parking spots at Lane Community College main campus as new and returning students begin fall term classes. Classes begin Monday, Sept. 24. Congestion works itself out within a few days as students learn their way around campus and adjust their schedules. Lane officials have a few words of advice for commuters:
- Ride the bus. Main campus credit students and English as a Second Language students can get a free LCC Bus Pass. See 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/facilities/transportation/ or call 463-5727.
- Carpool. Drivers and riders can sign up for carpooling via the LTD Commuter Solutions website at www.commutersolutions.ltd.org or the Rideshare Alliance website at www.rideshare.us (type LCC in the “start here” box).
- Ride your bike.
- If you drive, arrive a half-hour early to find a parking space. Congestion usually peaks from 8-11 a.m. Try to park before or after these times.
- Space is almost always available in Lot N above the baseball fields in the northeast corner of campus. See the map at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/mpr/locations/mc.htm
- Park in a legal, marked space. Parking and traffic regulations will be enforced for the safety and convenience of drivers. Study the regulations at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/cops/mvreg.htm
- Don’t park on the shoulders of Gonyea and Eldon Schafer access roads. These are patrolled by Lane County Sheriffs office personnel and tickets may be issued.
