Lane employees support Food for Lane County
Rain or shine, the employees of Lane Community College are scheduled to participate in their annual Day of Caring this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Food for Lane County Community Garden, 1465 Coburg Road in Eugene. While Lane employees are active in a wide range of community organizations, this annual event provides an opportunity for many of them to gather together, roll up their sleeves and get dirty for a great cause.
Food for Lane County's mission is to eliminate hunger in our community by creating access to food. Annually, FFLC partners with more than 100 social service agencies and programs to distribute 6 million pounds of food to 80,000 Lane County residents. Last year more than 2,000 volunteers contributed 60,000 hours to emergency and supplemental food assistance programs that serve our neighbors in need.
