LCC budget proposals
EUGENE – Proposals to balance the 2007/08 budget at Lane Community College will be presented to college’s Board of Education tonight in a work session beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m., immediately following a 4 p.m. closed Executive Session.
The presentation is for information only and no board decisions are expected. The board and Budget Committee begin meeting on May 2 to discuss the proposals. The board makes final decisions and must adopt the budget in June.
The proposals protect the comprehensive mission of the college while attempting to establish fiscal sustainability and stop the cycle of reductions. The proposals include both revenue enhancements and expenditure reductions.
Revenue enhancements include strategic enrollment growth.
Expenditure reductions include up to 15 contracted faculty retrenchments, and up to 22 contracted classified staff retrenchments. College officials are continuing discussions with faculty and classified union leadership regarding retrenched positions, thus impacted faculty and classified positions will not be announced until those discussions are concluded. In addition, 7 management positions are impacted.
There are 26 contracted faculty vacancies and 8 contracted classified vacancies that will not be filled. Reductions in part-time faculty and classified staff, and in materials and services, also are proposed.
Budget information is posted online at 2011sitearchive.lanecc.edu/budget/0708/index.htm
